Abrasive
The abrasive for water jet is garnet sand, it is the compounds of Fe-Al and pyrite, which is a kind of mineral sand, it will not release the chemicals. The hardness of the garnet sand is Mon’s hardness 7-8, specific gravity is 4.02G/CM3.
In the abrasive water jet cutting, the cutting efficiency is related to the garnet quality and sand size. Quality means no impurities in the sand, and the sand is hard with sharp edges and corners. In addition, small sand particles (120 mesh or smaller) cutting speed is slow, but the surface was more smooth (compared with 80 mesh or 50). Recommended: 60 mesh for cutting stainless steel, copper, marble etc. 80 mesh for cutting glass, ceramics etc.
All of the oxide and dioxide in the chemical composition is as follows: chemical composition of iron and aluminum ions can partly be calcium, magnesium, manganese substitution.
